Entering the summer of 2024, the Pella Christian softball team’s motto was ‘building a wall’, a motto they expanded upon this summer.
Laying the foundation of that motto last year, Eagles head coach Mindi Kacmarynski said that their goal was to not play against the scoreboard, but rather to compete each pitch. The objective of competing each pitch held true in 2025, but with Pella Christian earning more wins this year, Kacmarynski said that they added onto their foundation.
“Last year, we kept talking about building the wall, and I feel like we built another layer on the wall. Last year we were like, we’ve got to compete every offensive and defensive ball, and we did that again this year, but now we’re learning how to do that with more confidence. We had every right to step on the field and totally be confident because we were great fielders and great hitters. So, it was fun to see the girls starting to believe we are a good ball team and to carry ourselves like that.”
The Eagles finished the season with a 13-17 overall record and a 4-14 Little Hawkeye Conference mark.
