The Knoxville School Board approved a technology recommendation from ParentSquare at their meeting last Monday.
This proposal is to move to one common platform for the district website and their messaging services within the district. ParentSquare will work with Infinite Campus and allow the district to streamline communications as well as provide a website to showcase the Knoxville Community School District. Currently the district uses Apptegy for their website and Thrillshare for district communications. However, within the schools they are using a variety of messaging services including programs such as ClassDojo, SignUp Genius, Remind, among many others.
ParentSquare will be utilized for communicating to parents, staff, and community, sending mass notifications and urgent alerts, attendance notifications, teacher and classroom communications, direct messaging with two-way translation, forms and permission slips, appointments, and more. School Business Manager Craig Mobley says this is a way for the district to help provide the most effective communication.
“We’re always looking for ways to really improve and streamline our communication. All district communication, whether it be coaches communicating to student athletes and parents, sponsors communicating to students involved in their activities, schools communicating with parents and guardians, we’re just looking for ways to improve that.”
ParentSquare will cost the district just under $15,000 annually.
