Local veterans are partnering with the Pella Community Food Shelf to fight hunger with an event next month.

John Hill with the Post 89 American Legion Riders says their 2nd annual fun ride will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the food shelf on West 16th Street.

Hill says the American Legion Riders are working to build community and create opportunities for veterans to continue service beyond their military duty.

Melissa Zula with the Pella Community Food Shelf says canned goods can also be brought to the event to support the upcoming fall season.
