The Knoxville Water Reclamation Department has completed the Larson Street pump station project.
This pump station was originally installed in 1975 in order to expand sanitary sewer services throughout the neighborhood. The recent project included retrofitting of old can style dry well pumps to wet well submersible pumps. The total cost of the project was approximately $615,000. City Manager Heather Ussery says this was a needed project.
“These sanitary and sewer projects are ones that aren’t glamorous but they are needed and so this was for the pump station that is located on Larson Street. It was originally constructed in 1975 so those have been some old canned style pumps that we had at that station that needed to be replaced. We replaced them with submersible pumps and they have just completed that work.”
