A full day of activities is planned today for Newton High School’s 2025 Homecoming.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at an 11 a.m. Coronation Ceremony that’s open to the public, and will be held in the high school’s upper gym. The annual homecoming parade will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, and it will start at the DMACC parking lot, travel north to Legacy Plaza, go east one block, and then head south towards the north side of the square. Newton Student Council Faculty Advisor and Special Education teacher Kelly Tremel says it will lead to the Red and Black Block Party, which will feature a pep rally with the football team, the Pacesetters dance team, cheerleaders, and band. That will be followed by the first annual Cardinal Games, with teams consisting of seven students.

“Each of the members of the teams will compete in different activities, so we are hoping the community stays and cheers them all on.”

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will also be in attendance at the Red and Black Block Party. The Homecoming game against Indianola is at 7 p.m. Friday night and can be heard on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com. The Homecoming Dance, with the theme “Mamma Mia”, is Saturday night in Newton High School’s lower gym.
