Garrett Albertson won night one of the 21st Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals on a record-setting opening night that saw four track records fall and rain end the A-Main after 19 of the scheduled 25 laps. A new one lap record time trials as Ricky Thornton Jr broke a 19 year old record by clacking in a :16.566 to get overall quick time. Other records set were the 12 lap heat race one in which Daniel Hilsabeck won the race in 3:30.7, and the eight lap B-Main in a time of 2:19 set by winner Chad Simpson. Albertson fought through several yellow flags and a red flag period finally clinching his first career win at Knoxville after 19 laps due to rain. Tyler Erb, and Daulton Wilson completed the podium. Albertson currently leads the points at 488, followed by Thornton Jr with 485 and Erb with 484 in 3rd. All drivers will return tonight for night two and the highest point total from the last two nights will determine the starting line up for Saturday’s championship races.
