The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls took sixth in an eight-team field on Saturday in the Tiger Tankers Invitational at Valley High School. With no divers, the Aquagirls competed in eleven of the twelve events and achieved eight top five finishes. The highest placing was second by the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Harper and Temple Barton, Tori White, and Reid McCloud (3:47.94). That team also finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:43.9). White finished third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.69). Harper Barton was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.98) and 100-yard freestyle (54.58), while McCloud finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.27) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.61). The 200-yard medley relay was also fifth with Kimberlee Miller, Julia Nedder, Alexa Van Maanen, and Emalee Weuve (2:06.16). Aquagirl head coach Kaylee Franke noted the two biggest time drops for the team Saturday were turned in by Brilea Moffitt in the 100-yard backstroke (12.3 seconds) and Torrie Van Kley in the 100-yard breaststroke (5.23 seconds).

The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls will travel to Perry on Tuesday to compete in a swim meet with the Bluejays and Oskaloosa.
