The next Newton City Council meeting is starting the budget-making process for the new fiscal year that begins in July of next year, with a goal setting workshop this evening. City Council members will start with a review of Newton’s current Comprehensive Plan, presented by Community Development Director Erin Chambers.
“Every year, the city council begins their budgeting season with a goal setting session. They identify projects or equipment that they need to address within the next five years, with a primary focus on the upcoming fiscal year.”
The new fiscal year starts next July, and the budget for it will not be adopted until March. Tonight’s Newton City Council Goal Setting Workshop will be held at the Newton Arboretum and Botanical Gardens at 3030 North 4th Avenue East, beginning at 6 p.m.
