The Central College football team hits the halfway point of the regular season today as the Dutch are in Dubuque to take on Loras.
Central, who is ranked 18th by the American Football Coaches Association and 19th by D3Football.com is 4-0 to start the season, while the Duhawks are 0-3.
Coach Jeff McMartin isn’t taking Loras lightly, despite the record disparity, and says that the thing he’s most concerned about is the pressure that the Duhawk defense will try to apply.
“They’ll bring safety blitzes, corner blitzes, outside linebackers, four to one side – they’ll give you about any look you can have. Lots of times when you watch a teams film you look to see where it’s tipped off, and they don’t really tip it. They do a really good job of disguising where the pressure is coming from. Plus, our offensive line is young and we’re growing up each week, so we’re going to be ready for the pressure and find ways to handle it.”
Kickoff is today at 1pm at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque. Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS.
