
The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, with Mayor Steve Richardson reading proclamations declaring October as Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the week of October 6th as Fire Prevention Week.
The council approved the appointments of Grant Darrah to the Public Arts Commission and Aaron Labertew to the Sustainability Committee, a rezoning request for the Leonard Subdivision located at the intersection of Highway 92 and South Spruce Street, an ordinance regarding public notices of rezoning, and a FY26 budget amendment.
The council sent a possible truck route ordinance back to city staff for revision, appointed members to a special economic development committee, and a plat revision.
The council also discussed having study sessions every third Monday of the month, meeting time limits policy, and time limits on public comment, and city manager authority to fill budgeted positions.
