The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls travel to Ankeny today while the Cardinal Volleyball team competes at Des Moines North and Newton boys and girls cross-country teams run in Fort Dodge.

The Aquagirls will take on Ankeny, Des Moines Roosevelt, and Indianola at 5:00 p.m. in the Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness Center in Ankeny. At the Grinnell Swim Meet in early September, the Aquagirls finished behind Ankeny but ahead of Indianola. They have yet to compete against Des Moines Roosevelt. The Aquagirls have been off since defeating Des Moines Lincoln in a dual at home 91-76 Thursday.

The Newton volleyball team looks to get win number ten and eleven this evening in a triangular against Williamsburg and Des Moines North. This will be the first meeting between the teams this season. While the Cardinals are 9-11, Williamsburg is 17-8 and North is 2-13.  The triangular at North High School starts at 5:00 p.m.

The Newton boys and girls cross-country teams will take on runners from over 25 other schools at the Fort Dodge Invitational. The Cardinals are coming off a Saturday meet at Wartburg College in Waverly where the girls finished 11th and the boys took 28th. The girls’ field featured 25 teams while 35 boys teams competed. Many of those same squads will be at today’s event. The boys’ cross-country race is scheduled for 4:55 p.m. and the girls’ at 5:25 p.m.
