Senior Mya Jansen had a hand in all three goals to propel the Simpson women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Central Wednesday night, while the Dutch and Storm men’s soccer teams played to a 2-2 draw.

In the women’s contest, Jansen assisted on both first-half goals before adding one of her own early in the second. She set up Ally Hoffa for the first goal just 87 seconds into the match, then delivered another assist alongside Hoffa less than seven minutes later as Abby Bell doubled the Storm’s lead. Central pulled back within one in the 50th minute when Olivia DeVos finished a pass from Bailey Huizenga, but the Storm responded just a minute later as Jansen connected on a double assist from Pepper Earle and Brissa Valadez to restore the two-goal cushion. Meredith Downs recorded seven saves for Simpson in their seventh straight win in the series, while Central goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore had six saves.

In the men’s contest, Simpson jumped out to the quick lead on a leg of Mitchell Dickson in the 24th minute. Off a goal kick to Zach Kline at midfield, Kline found Dickson who netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season, and Simpson carried the 1-0 lead into halftime. Central responded early in the second half, scoring the equalizer in the 53rd minute on a goal from Isaiah Guyton. The match held 1-1 until the final minutes, before the Dutch mounted one final push and Spencer Taylor scored in the 88th minute. With little time on the clock, the Storm moved the ball up the field and forced a corner kick, and Dickson found himself with the ball at the top of the box. Dickson then went out wide to Allan Martinez, who put the ball in the upper right corner of the net to force the draw.

The Simpson soccer teams return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader at Loras at 1 pm, while Central returns home to host Wartburg Saturday in a 1 pm doubleheader.
