Progress continues on the new Knoxville Public Safety/City Hall building as the bid closing approaches.
The project is currently out for bid with a closing date of October 14th. Following a contract award, a groundbreaking would be held in November. This project is being funded through local option sales tax which means no impact to property taxes.
Improvements to this building will include: additional work space for staff, a working environment for first responders that meets NFPA standards, improved functionality for day to day operations, increased building safety & security, functional ADA accessibility, inviting public spaces for council meetings, training, and development meetings.
Questions about the project can be directed to City Manager Heather Ussery. Further information & bid documents are also available on the city’s website here.
