Starting Wednesday, Jasper County voters can cast absentee ballots for the November 4th City and School Election at the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton. The Deputy Auditor of Elections in Jasper County is Kristin Carley.

“Wednesday, October 15th, absentee voting starts in-person. So you can come to our office up until November 3rd from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and vote absentee. If you are not already registered to vote, you can come in and do that as well. Just bring your valid photo I-D like a driver’s license, passport, or something like that with you.”

The Jasper County Auditor’s Office is on the second floor of the courthouse in downtown Newton. Carly says absentee ballots can also be sent to a voter’s home. The request form can be downloaded from the Jasper County Elections website or from the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office. That request form must be received by the Jasper County Auditor’s Office by Monday, October 20th. The office will then mail out the ballot, which must be returned to the Auditor’s Office by 8 p.m. on election day to be counted. Polls will be open November 4th from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jasper County Deputy Auditor of Elections Kristin Carley shares more election information on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
