The Pella Opera House invites the public to help them celebrate two milestones next month.

This November marks the 125th anniversary of when the Pella Opera House building was opened to the public, and the 35th anniversary of the Opera House returning to the building after it served multiple purposes for several years. To celebrate these milestones, the Opera House will host an open house on Saturday, November 8th from 10-5 pm. The public is invited to walk through the building, enjoy live organ performance at 10:30 am and 2 pm, take a guided walk-through tour at noon, and enjoy the Martini Huis from 1-5 pm.

There will also be an anniversary dinner catered by Country Catering in the Great Hall at 5:30 pm, and tickets for the dinner can be purchased for $60 here. Pella Opera House Executive Director Cyndi Atkins says the celebration will conclude with a free showing of the original 1924 version of Peter Pan, accompanied by Brett Valliant.

“He is internationally acclaimed as an organist. He plays annually for many film festivals, including the International Film Festival that’s hosted by the American Film Institute. He’s toured as a solo artist, and he’s going to be here, and he is going to be performing on our 1928 Barton Theater Organ.”
