The Knoxville City Council approved the final work for the Larson Street pump station project at their meeting Monday.

The council approved the final work along with a final change order for the project which was completed by the water reclamation department. This pump station was originally installed in 1975 in order to expand sanitary sewer services throughout the neighborhood. The recent project included retrofitting of old can style dry well pumps to wet well submersible pumps. City Manager Heather Ussery says the project was completed at the right time.

“It sounds like we got those pumps replaced just in time. The old ones started to go out as we were replacing the new ones. We knew it was an issue and I give kudos to our water reclamation employees who saw that and went forward with this project and I’m happy it was another one completed.”

The total cost of the project was approximately $615,000.
