Indianola Volleyball Earns Regional Semifinal Win over Iowa City High
The #11 Indianola volleyball team dropped their first set against Iowa City High in the regional semifinal round Thursday evening, but would recover in dominant fashion to win 3-1. The Indians would drop the first set in a back and forth contest 26-24, but then jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the second set that seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the match as they evened the set score with a 25-14 win, then went up 2-1 winning 25-11. The Little Hawks made an effort to continue their season with a hard fought fourth set, but the Indians would close it out with a 27-25 win. Indianola advances to the regional final, where they will go on the road to take on #4 Waukee on Tuesday.
Indianola Football Hosts Urbandale on Senior Night
The Indianola football team will honor their senior class tonight as they host Urbandale with massive playoff implications. The Indians are currently ranked #14 in the latest class 5A RPI, and with a win would guarantee themselves a playoff spot. The Indians are coming off of a 38-0 victory over Sioux City North to guarantee themselves a winning record, however they face a J-Hawks team that is also fighting for a potential playoff opportunity after their loss to Norwalk last week.
The Indians will still be rotating in running backs as they have over the last two weeks, and head coach Eric Kluver said after multiple fumbles last week taking care of the ball will be paramount to an Indians win.
The game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and the ICSD Activities YouTube Stream with Andrew Swadner and Rob Hawkins on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm, with kickoff at 7pm.
