The Newton Public Library is asking for donations of new gloves and snow boots to distribute to local school children. The Library’s Youth Services Librarian, Phyllis Peter, says what’s collected will be distributed to elementary students in Newton.

“Insulated gloves that kids can use for playing in the snow. So waterproof mittens or gloves. And then snow boots. They say they have some kids who can not go out in the snow to play because they don’t have boots.”

Peter says the boot sizes that are needed include sizes 12 kids to up to size 4.The new items can be dropped off at the library during normal business hours throughout this week, which are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Newton Public Library Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter talks more about the Winter Clothing Drive and other upcoming events at the library on Monday’s Let’s Talk Newton.
