Knoxville’s Urban Ziller signed to continue his athletic career at North Central College in volleyball. Ziller, who has spent that last four seasons as a student manager for the Knoxville Volleyball program had to look to the club route to hone his skills since Iowa does not offer boys volleyball as a sanctioned sport in high school. Ziller has played for Ohana in the Des Moines area and he says that was key in helping him progress as a player.
Ziller: “Here in Knoxville and in Iowa there isn’t great competition. Surprisingly Ohana has found some of the greatest players in Iowa and they guys want to work and are wanting to win and that’s a great combination.”
Ziller says he got interested in volleyball when his 6th grade language/arts teacher Christa Willis sparked his interest and got a club team together in Knoxville. Ziller will head to a program that is currently in its 11th season as a varsity sport at North Central. The Cardinals are an NCAA Division III school and a member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Ziller will study business and filmmaking.
