Reaching the halfway point of their regular season, the Pella Christian boys golf squad travels to Monroe Monday for the PCM Invite at Gateway Recreation Golf Course.

The Eagles come into Monday’s contest after competing twice a week ago. Pella Christian began last week’s action by posting their lowest score of the season in a fifth place finish at the second Little Hawkeye Conference meet in Oskaloosa last Tuesday, before finishing sixth at the Grinnell Invitational on Thursday. Entering the season with an entirely new varsity lineup, head coach Kent Breems said that the Eagles are continuing to work on ways to improve each and every meet. Breems adds that one of the current areas of focus to drop their scores is around the cup.

“I think that the biggest thing that we need to concentrate on is our short game, specifically putting. We’ve been struggling with that and I think that was another thing that happened on Tuesday at Oskaloosa, was our putting was a little bit better, and our score definitely showed that. So if we can limit the number of three putts we have, or just improve on our putting overall, that’s going to shave a number of strokes off.”

The nine-team PCM Invite on Monday is slated to begin at 9 am.
