Norwalk city officials are continuing to respond following the fire at Country View Apartments earlier this month that displaced multiple residents and drew a large emergency response.

Norwalk City Manager Luke Nelson praised the response from emergency personnel and community organizations that assisted residents in the aftermath. Nelson tells KNIA News one of the most significant takeaways from the incident was that no major injuries were reported despite the scale of the fire.

“The main comment is to see our fire department, police department, public works all come together and do what they’re really good at doing, and nobody came away with injuries. I think we had a couple smoke inhalations, just kind of double-checks between staff, possibly even victims of the fire, but for everybody to walk away from that much of a devastating fire is impressive.”

Nelson also credited the property managers at Country View Apartments for helping displaced residents find temporary housing following the fire and noted Warren County organizations, including the Norwalk Area Ministerial Association and WeLIFT, also stepped in to assist residents with financial donations, becoming one of the largest needs following the incident.

Residents interested in helping can find donation and resource information through the City of Norwalk website under the Emergency Response section.
