The Knoxville Police Department is accepting donations for their annual Helmets and Hotdogs event on Thursday, May 28th.

The police department is currently accepting donations of bikes, helmets, and monetary donations. This year’s event will start at Noon at the Knoxville Police Station. Helmets and Hotdogs is an event held on the last day of school to give kids a chance to get a new bike helmet, have their bikes tuned up and safety inspected, eat a meal, and a way to visit many different booths from local businesses and organizations. The event also includes many different bike giveaways and other prizes. The event is made possible through community donations of bikes and bike helmets. Knoxville School Resource Officer Cody Nichol says this event is an example of the community really coming together to make it happen through their generosity.

“It’s always amazing to me to see the amount of community support that we have for this event and how many people come together for it. We have donations come in from everywhere, be that bikes, helmets, and monetary. Anything helps, and it gets sent straight back into the community for our kids.”

The department has already seen many generous donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations. If you would like to make a donation, contact the Knoxville Police Department.
