The Knoxville VA Taskforce continues to remain active, expanding its contact network and exploring ways to market the VA Campus. Knoxville Mayor Harv Sprafka tells KNIA/KRLS News a meeting Tuesday between Taskforce members and consultants discussed lessons learned from a recent IRS Call Center. Sprafka says when possible IRS Call Center Locations in the state were being explored, he made inquiries to officials about how the Knoxville campus offered close proximity to the Des Moines airport and had more buildings than other locations for workers. Although the call center was ultimately located in West Des Moines, it still drove home the necessity to market the campus to prospective entities, and step up the Taskforce’s contacts with elected officials. Sprafka, who created the Taskforce, announced that although he is not seeking re-election as mayor, he would remain an active member with the taskforce.
