A northeast Iowa man is in the Jasper County Jail after being accused of stealing a Creston woman’s car from a Newton motel. Newton Police have charged 31-year-old Michael Allen Connolly with 2nd degree theft, a class D felony. The court filed criminal complaint says the Dubuque man stole a 2018 Kia Sorento from outside the Newton Econo Lodge around 11 p.m. on April 25th, while the owner was inside renting a room. A warrant for Connolly’s arrest was issued, and a Jasper County Deputy arrested him on Monday at the Interstate 80 Mitchellville exit. Connolly’s initial court appearance is pending.
