After trailing for most of the match, Abby Bell delivered a last minute equalizer as Simpson tied with Illinois Wesleyan 1-1 to begin the 2026 season. Trailing 1-0, Simpson generated early pressure with a corner kick at 49:03, shots from Pepper Earle and Savannah Schneider, and another corner kick at 55:41 before Bell and Ally Hoffa added attempts in the next five minutes.
The teams traded chances through the middle of the half, with Hoffa putting another shot on goal at 65:54 and Earle missing high at 75:26, while Ill. Wesleyan had a blocked shot, a corner kick and two attempts miss wide.
Bell tied the match 1-1 at 81:17 off an assist from Caroline White. Ill. Wesleyan pushed back with three shots after the equalizer, but Meredith Downs made saves at 84:25 and 85:21, and Bell’s late shot at 89:55 was saved as the match finished 1-1.
