Racing at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” will be in full force starting tonight at Knoxville Raceway.
The busiest time of the year in Knoxville will include eight days of racing over the next ten, beginning with the 360 Knoxville Nationals, and continuing on Sunday with the Capitani Classic. There will then be a two day break on Monday and Tuesday and then racing action will resume with the 65th running of the Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals Wednesday through Saturday. Throughout the next ten days, there will also be countless events taking place throughout the Knoxville community and at the track for local citizens and race fans who are visiting from all over the world. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says with so many improvements happening all throughout town over the last several years, the Nationals are a great time to show off the community to race fans who are only here once a year.
“This is the 65th Nationals so we have been doing this for a long time but it is really neat to be able to talk to those visitors that have been coming for many years. They come once a year and are able to see the changes that have happened just over the last year. They are amazed by it and the growth that Knoxville has seen. It’s neat for those people that are coming to the community who don’t see the little changes each day and it makes a big difference when you are coming once a year. This is a great time to show off our community.”
