The Knoxville chapter of Freedom for Youth is officially transitioning to their own entity called First Place Ministries.
The ministry offers free K-12 after school programming in Knoxville with four pillars of faith, education, leadership and employment. The organization has always operated under their parent ministry out of Des Moines, but have spent the last couple of years working to become their own entity through fundraising and extensive planning. Their official 501(c)(3) status has been approved, so all donations made directly to First Place Ministries are fully tax-deductible.
The ministry continues to seek donations to help with the transition along with recurring donations so they can stay self-sustainable. Angie Gentry with First Place Ministries says there are many ways to support this after school program.
“We are always taking donations but we also accept gift cards to Amazon, Fareway, Walmart, Hy-Vee and consumable donations such as paper plates, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, and silverware. We also accept food donations.”
