A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday to celebrate the upcoming renovations to the Pella Community Center. The non-profit organization Friends of the Pella Community Center held the event at noon, with an open house and coffee time that followed at the Pella Memorial Building near city hall. The group raised funds to ensure the renovation of the historic building this summer into next. Pella Mayor Don DeWaard, Marion County Board of Supervisors Member Kisha Jahner, Chair Emerita of Vermeer Corporation Mary Andringa, and Jade Dix with Pella Corporation were among the speakers in the ceremony hosted by Pati and Arvin Van Zante with the Friends of the Pella Community Center.
