The Indianola softball team fell 7-4 to Johnston in the Class 5A Regional softball tournament heard live on 94.3 KNIA.
Indianola got off to a red-hot start by picking up back-to-back hits to begin the game including a bunt from Leah Offenberger. After the two base hits, Alexa Guyer hit a three-run home to put Indianola ahead 3-0 after the first inning. The Dragons made a pitching change heading into the second with Hannah Haxton coming into relief.
Both Indianola’s Mia Krazmanic and Haxton went punch for punch in the circle and Indianola took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth. That’s where things began to unravel for the Indians. Johnston began the inning with three consecutive hits including the final one being an RBI single by Haxton. Later in the inning, Johnston capitalized on three more Dragon hits along with an Indianola fielding error to go ahead 5-3 after four.
The scoring didn’t stop for Johnston as they put two more on the board in the fifth with a second Grayce Reiners double on the night and was eventually brought in on another Haxton RBI single. Johnston led 7-3 after five innings. Indianola plated another run in the sixth as Alexa Guyer singled to lead off the inning and was brought in on Alena Woosley’s RBI double.
Unfortunately for Indianola they fell short 7-4 and ended the 2026 season with a 16-19 record. Indianola graduates three seniors.
