Indianola Top 10 Sports Stories of 2025-26 School Year – Honorable Mentions

Several exciting sports moments happened in the 2025-2026 athletic year for Indianola, and while the top ten features some of the biggest, more notable accomplishments are worth mentioning. Before we resume the countdown on Monday with #5, here are the honorable mentions:

Wes Nailor’s Game Sealing Block at Newton

Our first honorable mention event comes from the Indianola boys basketball team. The Indians traveled to Newton on February 5th, and the game was coming down to the wire. Indianola was ahead 54-51 and Newton’s Caden Klein attempted a three-pointer to tie the game, but Indianola’s Wes Nailor came in with a game-sealing block to secure the three point win for the Indians.

Leah Offenberger’s Walkoff Single against Norwalk

Our second honorable mention comes from the softball diamond. Indianola hosted Norwalk for a doubleheader on June 24th. In the second game, the game was heading into the eighth inning locked at 3-3. Eighth-Grade Pitcher, Mia Krizmanic retired the Warriors in order in the top of the eighth with a pair of groundouts and a pop fly. Indianola put pressure on Norwalk’s defense right away with a pair of base hits and an intentional walk. With bases loaded and nobody out, a line drive caught by Harper solidified the first out of the inning. However, Leah Offenberger delivered the walk-off base hit up the middle that was mishandled by the Warrior defense, scoring Woosley for the 4-3 win.

We will resume Monday with the top ten moments from the 2025-2026 Indianola athletic year.
