The Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad defeated Pella for the second straight season as the Panthers won 4-1. Knoxville got the scoring started with Brody DeJong with 9:58 remaining in the 1st half followed by Cael Cook’s goal with 58 seconds left to give Knoxville a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Panthers would take a commanding 3-0 lead when Josh Toledo found the net with 36:51 remaining. Pella would cut the Panther lead a couple of minutes later but Jadyn Deheer would put the match out of reach with 3:20 left on another goal. Quentin VanderLinden had seven saves. Knoxville finishes the regular season at 7-4-4 and will host Central Lee in the 1st round of the class 2A Substate on Monday.

Today the Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad will host the class 1A singles and doubles district at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts. The Panthers are welcoming Clarke, Creston, Iowa Falls Nevada, Sayel and Cedar Rapids Xavier. Panthers Coach Kevin Wadle hopes his team competes, but also if they get a break in the draw, hopefully take advantage.
Wadle: “I hope they get a taste of it if they put in the work over the next few years. As far as Jude and Josh are concerned, maybe they get lucky and get a favorable draw where they don’t have to play the top seed and get in a semifinal with a chance to advance.”
The top two singles and doubles players will advance to the State Meet later this month in Waterloo.
