The Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad rolled over Seymour to conclude the regular season on Thursday 14-4. Two five running innings in the 1st and 3rd took any doubt from the outcome. Kesley Reed was a problem for the Warriors as she went 3/4 with four RBI including a home run. Ashlyn Metz was also hard to stop offensively with a 3/4 night and three driven in including a homer of her own. Lotty Nolte got the win allowing just two hits. The Saints finish the regular season at 12-18 and will host Mormon Trail on Monday in the opening round of the class 1A regional.

The Melcher-Dallas Baseball Squad will take on Montezuma at Lynnville-Sully to start the class 1A Baseball substate tonight. The Saints are 12-10 this season which is their first winning season since 2021 they also finished 5th in the Bluegrass Conference standings. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports there is an air of confidence that his team can win a first round game.

Ferguson: “We’ve actually got a winning record now and usually at this time in the season we usually get to play a 1 seed or a two seed and now we’ll play a team we can compete with. It would sure be nice to win a first round district game.”

Montezuma is 5-13 and placed 9th in the South Iowa Cedar League.
