SOFTBALL
The Norwalk softball squad has won five of its last six games, improving to 18-13 overall. In their last competition on Thursday, the Warriors knocked off fourth-ranked in 5A Dallas Center-Grimes 3-2, handing the Mustangs their only conference defeat. Winterset entered Monday’s doubleheader at North Polk with a record of 17-12, having won four of its previous five games. The only loss during that stretch came against top-ranked in 4A ADM. The Warriors are seeking their first softball win over the Huskies since 2014.
BASEBALL
The Norwalk baseball team is now 12-16 overall following Friday night’s 11-1 win over DC-G in game two of a doubleheader. The Warriors snapped a six-game losing streak in the process, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings. Seven Norwalk players hit safely and Josh Snyder pitched all five innings for the win. Roosevelt has been hot and cold this season. The Roughriders started 0-6, then won 18 of their next 21 games before losing four of their last five. They split a doubleheader with Des Moines East on Monday night. Norwalk and Roosevelt both won once during last year’s twin bill in Des Moines.
