The Norwalk boys golf and girls tennis teams will continue busy early-season schedules today with competitions in Norwalk.
The Warrior boys golfers will be one of 12 teams competing in the Waukee Northwest Invitational. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. at The Legacy Golf Club. Norwalk is competing in its fourth tournament in 11 days, highlighted by a team victory at last Wednesday’s Jesse Peck Invitational in Ankeny. More recently, the Warriors placed fifth at Tuesday’s Johnson Invitational. Senior Dayton Poen leads the team with an 18-hole average of 72.3 strokes through three events.
The Norwalk girls tennis squad will host Newton in a Little Hawkeye Conference dual at 4:15. The Warriors improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the LHC with Tuesday’s 10-1 victory at Oskaloosa. Today marks the team’s sixth dual meet in nine days following a pair of rainouts to start the season. Junior Kierdyn Stockwell and senior Leah Black enter today’s Newton meet with perfect 5-0 records in singles play.
