Girls Soccer Defeats Southeast Polk
The #2 in Class 2A Norwalk girls soccer team won a close match at Southeast Polk on Thursday, 2-1.
Thanks to goals from Pearl Brown and Ella Seeley, the Warriors were able to grab their fourth win of the season to move to 4-0. Assisting on those two goals were Avery Drymon and Alayna O’Connor. Brown’s goal marks a team-high number six on the season. Norwalk has a big week ahead, taking on two ranked opponents: #10 in 2A Pella and #13 in 3A Ames. Tuesday’s matchup against 2-3-1 Pella will be played at Norwalk’s Warrior Stadium with kick-off set for 7 p.m.
Boys Soccer Falls to Ankeny Centennial
In a tight battle, the Norwalk boys soccer team lost at Ankeny Centennial on Thursday, 1-0.
Keeping themselves in the game until the final whistle, the Warriors kept the score empty until 14 minutes before the final whistle, when the Jaguars scored the only goal of the game. With that loss, Norwalk moves to 3-3 on the season as they remain 2-0 in conference play. The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday in Little Hawkeye play as they travel to Pella for their first of three games next week. Kick-off against the Dutch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pella High School.
Girls Track and Field Finishes 4th at Indianola
The Norwalk girls track and field team took fourth place at the Ron Werling Invite in Indianola on Thursday with a team score of 55.
Freshman Hannah Schmitz was the highest points scorer for the Warriors in the meet, taking second place in the open 1500m with a time of 4:54.50, earning the team eight points. The only other individual points scorer for Norwalk was sophomore Claire Stevenson, who placed sixth in the 3000m. The Warriors also found some success in relays, placing third in the distance medley, fourth in the 4x100m, and fifth in the 4x200m and the 4x800m. Norwalk competes again on Monday at their home girls meet with events scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. inside Warrior Stadium.
Boys Track and Field Competes at Waukee
The Norwalk boys track and field team competed at the Waukee High School Boys Invite at Waukee Northwest High School on Thursday; no team scores were kept.
Senior Kaiden Kunze highlights the meet once again for the Warriors, this time in the open 400m. With a time of 47.97, Kunze now has a Blue Standard in the event, a new Norwalk school record, and is #1 in the event state-wide. Other podium finishes for the Warriors were seniors Lane Osterloh, who placed second in the 1600m, and Xavier Bush, who placed third in the 400m behind Kunze. Norwalk next competes on Tuesday in the 2026 Jaguar Boys Track and Field Invite. Events begin at 4 p.m. at Northview Middle School in Ankeny.
Boys Tennis Falls in Grimes
The Norwalk boys tennis team lost a close match against Dallas Center-Grimes on Thursday, 6-5.
The Warriors received singles wins in the two, five, and six spots from Isaac Lors, Lane Juergens, and Rohan Tiedt. Lors and Tiedt won in two sets, while Juergens won in three. Doubles wins came from the #2 and #5 tandems of Lane Juergens and Eli Mills, and Rohan Tiedt and Carson Silvers. Norwalk turns around to play today at the Johnston Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. They will compete against Johnston, Waukee, and Ankeny.
