Girls Golf Place 2nd in Dragon Invite

The Norwalk girls golf team competed in the Johnston Dragon Invite at Jester Park Golf Course in Granger on Monday, placing second with a score of 346. 

For the first time in almost a month, the Warrior girls did not finish in first place, coming in three strokes ahead of third-place Waukee and 12 strokes behind first-place Waukee Northwest. Junior Evelyn Kinney led the way once again for Norwalk, taking second place individually, shooting a 77. Addie Smith followed behind for Norwalk at eighth place with 81 strokes. It’s a quick turnaround for Norwalk as they will compete in the Newton Girls Golf Invite this afternoon against six other schools. First tee is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Westwood Golf Course.

 

Boys Tennis Defeats Newton

The Norwalk boys tennis team defeated Newton at home on Monday, 8-3.

Monday’s win marks the third conference win of the season for the Warriors, as they currently sit in fourth place in the Little Hawkeye at 3-2. Norwalk received singles wins from the 2, 3, 4, and 6 spots from Isaac Lors, Ben Swim, Lane Juergens, and Carson Menke, all in two sets, while Wyatt Coburn and Rohan Tiedt fell in the 1 and 5 spots in three sets each. In doubles, the Warriors won at tandems 2 through 5. Norwalk turns around to compete again today at home against 4-1 Indianola, another conference foe. First serve is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. 

 

Soccer Handles Pella Christian in Doubleheader

Both Norwalk soccer teams earned 5-0 wins against Pella Christian on Senior Night on Monday.

With their win over the Eagles, the second-ranked Warrior girls in Class 2A remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0 this season, good for first place. Norwalk’s five goals of the night were scored by Taylor Schreiber, Ella Seeley, Claire Sandhoff, Pearl Brown, and Alayna O’Connor. Olivia Welch had two assists, and Bella Moede recorded one. After Monday’s break from ranked play, the Warriors turn around to take on #3 in Class 1A, and undefeated, Des Moines Christian, this evening. Action is scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. at Lions Field in Urbandale.

The Norwalk boys now move to 4-1 in conference play with Monday’s win, as they occupy second place behind Dallas Center-Grimes. Matthew Lane and Eli Scavo each scored two goals for the Warriors, while Tyden Eng added one. Teegan Kralik recorded two assists while Greer Langel chipped in with one. Additionally, Jacoby Robbins earned another shutout with the win. Like the girls, Norwalk’s boys turn around to play again today as they host Bondurant-Farrar starting at 7:30 p.m. this evening.
