Five PCM varsity athletic teams were in action Monday.

The PCM  soccer team hosted Greene County and picked up a 2-1 win against a 7-2 Rams squad in a Heart of Iowa Conference matchup, The Mustangs had goals from Dominic Witt and Dylan Beyer. PCM improves to 5-4-2 on the season and will next compete on Thursday against Carlisle. 

The PCM boys golf team competed at the Washington Invitational at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. PCM finished eighth with a team score of 337 out of 19 total teams at the 18-hole event. The top individual score for the PCM boys was Charlie Ford who finished 21st with a 82. The Mustang boys will next compete today at West Marshall for their conference meet.

The PCM girls golf team hosted a home quad that featured Pella, Knoxville, and Saydel. The Mustangs finished third with a team score of 215 at the nine-hole event. The top individual score for PCM was Annie Ford who shot a 52 to place sixth. The PCM girls will be back in action today at Newton. 

The girls and boys track and field teams competed at North Polk. The Mustang boys placed first with a team score of 131 out of seven total teams. Top individual finishers for the PCM boys were Dane Fraker winning the 200 meter, Chase Wagaman winning the high jump, Hayden Shannon winning the shot put, and the 4X800 meter relay placing first.

The Mustang girls placed third with a team score of 109 out of eight total teams. Top individual finishers for the PCM girls were Abi Teeter winning the 1500 meter, Katelynn Fagg and Lexi Fagg taking first and second in the long jump, and the 4X800 meter relay taking first. The PCM track and field teams will be back in action on Thursday for their conference meet at Greene County.
