The Pella baseball team earned a sweep against Fairfield 10-9 and 7-5 at home on Wednesday night.
In game one, the Dutch fell behind after the first inning, but scored four runs in the 4th to take control. Pella hung on despite giving up three tallies in the top of the 7th. Oliver Smith was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two doubles, and Grant Hauser, Hayes Lautenbach, and Cavan Alexander each had two hits.
In the nightcap, Pella scored seven runs with just five hits, including two more from Hauser. The Dutch opened with four runs in the bottom of the first and didn’t lose the lead despite four more last-inning tallies from the Trojans. Zach Dobson earned the win with three innings and three strikeouts on the mound.
Pella’s baseball team improves to 10-15 overall and wraps up the conference at home on Friday against Oskaloosa. Hear the game live on 92.1 KRLS.
