The Pella Christian baseball team continued their busy summer Tuesday night, falling 8-5 at home against Centerville.

Competing for the ninth time in eight days, the Eagles fell behind early and their late rally came up short. Trailing 5-1 after the first four innings, Pella Christian plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull within 5-3. The Big Reds and Eagles each scored two runs in the sixth inning to make it a 7-5 game going into the seventh, but Centerville added an insurance run and held Pella Christian scoreless to secure the victory.

The Eagles recorded five hits as a team on the night, while adding two RBIs. Ben Van Wyngarden, Dean DeRonde, Logan Gallaher, Lewis Menniga, and Blake Gallaher each recorded singles, with Van Wyngarden and Blake Nikkel each posting an RBI. Garrett Wielard suffered the loss on the mound, striking out seven while allowing six runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.

Pella Christian is now 3-9 on the season, and they return to action today with the softball team against Moravia. The Eagles softball team hosts the Mohawks at 7:15 pm, while the baseball team hosts Moravia in a game that can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at 6:45 pm.
