Eagles Soccer Teams Fall to Norwalk

The Pella Christian soccer teams traveled to Norwalk Monday night for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader and suffered identical 5-0 losses.

In the opening game, the Eagle girls hung tough with the Class 2A #2 Warriors but were unable to secure the upset. Head coach Matt Dowie said the Eagles had chances to score in the first half but couldn’t find the back of the net. Norwalk took a 2-0 lead going into halftime, and using the wind to their advantage, controlled the possession for much of the second half to score three more goals. Pella Christian fell to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the loss.

The Class 1A #7 Eagle boys held their own against the 3A #5 Warriors in the nightcap, but also struggled in the second half. Pella Christian held Norwalk to just one first half goal, but ran out of steam in the final 40 minutes of play. The Warriors tacked on four goals after halftime, dropping the Eagles to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
