The Pella Christian football team had a rare night off Friday, and used the opportunity to reset ahead of their final two games of the regular season.
The Eagles were scheduled to play Davis County yesterday, but got a forfeit win with the cancellation of Davis County’s varsity season. The lack of a game Friday night gave Pella Christian more opportunities to focus on themselves, rather than preparing for an opponent. After five tough weeks to open the season, head coach Rich Kacmarynski said that the bye week came at a great time for his squad.
“The timing of it’s been good. We’ve had some guys that are a little banged up, and so we’ve been able to get some rest. We’ve been able to work on a few things in practice without maybe the stress of game install. We’re able to work and get down to some fundamentals and some things. So, that felt really good. We were able to get a couple extra lifts in this week. And then I’m hopeful that our kids take the weekend to rest and recover, get their batteries charged up, so that we can finish this season strong and kind of have the finish that we’d like to have.”
The Eagles will return to action next Friday, hosting South Tama on Eagle Lane.
