It was a doubleheader split for both summer teams in Pella as the Dutch competed with Newton in both baseball and softball on Monday. The Dutch boys were 3-1 winners and fell 6-3; the girls dropped the opener 11-10 and won game two 7-0, as heard on the KRLS2 stream.
Pella’s softball girls bounced back behind freshman pitcher Ava Rowe, who guided her team to her first career complete game shutout in the circle, limiting the Cardinals to three hits. She did so after Newton scored ten runs in the final three innings to grab the game one victory.

Madi Keske was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in as well in game two. The Dutch girls are back in action tonight in Carlisle.
