The Pleasantville baseball team will open postseason play tonight.
The #1 ranked Trojans will host the Centerville Big Reds in Class 2A Substate 5 action. Pleasantville received a first round bye and Centerville is coming off a win over EBF in their first postseason game. The Trojans concluded the regular season with a 29-1 overall record and a 20-0 mark in conference play. After coming off a state title last year and returning their entire roster this season, the Trojans have high hopes entering this year’s postseason run.
The Trojans have been brilliant on offense this year batting just under .400 as a team and average ten runs scored a game. However, where they have been the most dominant all year is their pitching staff. Pleasantville has five guys with 24 or more innings of work this year and they have a team ERA of 0.94 and an opponent batting average of just .125. Centerville sits at 18-11 overall on the season and are led by Abram Decena who is one of the best players in all of Class 2A batting .567 with 35 RBI.
Tonight’s contest will start at 7:00 pm.
