Area veterans with injuries, illnesses, or who are of advanced age that require a nursing home level of care now can live in a VA-sponsored Medical Foster Home, or MFH. VA spokeswoman Lisa Christie tells KNIA/KRLS News the MFH program provides individualized care by qualified caregivers in a family setting. A coordinator finds caregivers in the community who are willing to take veterans into their homes and provide meals and appropriate 24-hours supervision, among other care.
