It wasn’t the start they had hoped for. Four turnovers and three first-half touchdown receptions by the Cardinals Nick Easley led to Knoxville’s 41-7 loss to Newton in their season opener Friday night. Panthers’ head coach, Eric Kellar says the score wasn’t indicative of how his team played. Knoxville’s only score came on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Jared McClung to Conner Bailey in the second quarter. McClung finished with 127 yards passing and the one touchdown, while Knoxville as a team rushed for 75 yards with their new offense. The Panthers are 0 – 1 and will play their home opener against Centerville next Friday, a game that can be heard on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA.
