The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad thoroughly dominated Centerville last night 63-31 and completed a perfect South Central Conference season. If that was not enough Meredith Cunningham needed 21 points to be the third girl to score 1,000 career points in the five-on-five era. Not feeling the best, she channeled her inner Michael Jordan and scored the needed 21 points in the first half and tallied 27 for the game to lead all scorers. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports Cunningham’s achievement made it all the more special with a team win. Knoxville is now 16-1 on the season and finish the South Central Conference at 12-0. The boys went to Centerville looking for at least a split in the conference and earned a hard fought 75-71 victory over the Big Reds. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS he was proud of the effort to get the ball inside in the first half. The boys improve to 12-4 on the season and finish the South Central Conference with a 10-2 record and splits the conference championship Chariton. The Panthers host Pella on Tuesday.
