Fishing licenses are at a 7 year high across the state, but are down 12 percent in Marion County. John Mertz, State Conservation Officer with the DNR, says hes not sure why it would be down so much in the county, especially with the good crappie fishing hes seen this year. Mertz says fishing is an inexpensive way to get out and enjoy the summer season. You can purchase a fishing license for $17.50 by calling 891-2004, at the County Recorders office, or a number of retail stores in the county.
