The Knoxville school district’s enrollment numbers may be lower than last year, but might not be near as drastic a drop as it’s been over the past few years. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says tentative numbers show the district might be down ten to fifteen students from last year, although nothing is final until after the district’s official student “count” day in October. Enrollment is a big factor in how much money schools can budget, and Flack says having solid numbers would help determine what tasks to assign a committee being formed this fall to look at the potential for restructuring the district. Flack says appointments to the restructuring committee are set to be made after the September school board elections.
