After closing out the season strong at Chariton last week, the Pella Christian boys and girls cross country teams are hoping to maintain their focus this week as they prepare for Thursday’s district meet. Eagles’ Coach Jocilyn Meinders says performing well against the top teams in the very competitive Little Hawkeye Conference should benefit her runners going into the meet.

“With the competition we have in the conference, that’s really good preparation for them at districts. I mean we did better last year at districts than we did at conference, so looking at a fourth place finish [for the boys] at conference against the teams we were running against, districts looks pretty good for the guys this year, said Meinders. “And for the girls, Michaela [Martin] and Kim [Van Zee] placed so high, we’re pretty optimistic about how they can do for districts too.”

On the boys’ side, Pella Christian has been led by Skyler Gidding and Josh Meyer. The Girls Regional and Boys District Cross Country Meet will be held at Nodaway Valley on Thursday.
