Completing a pre season without seeing a fly ball or even planting spikes in the dirt, the Central College baseball squad anticipates finally getting outside for four season-opening games in Missouri this weekend.

Today the Dutch open against Grinnell College in a 2 p.m. game at Fulton, Missouri., before meeting host Westmister College at 5 p.m. Sunday Central takes on Grinnell again at 10 a.m. and Westminster at 4 p.m. All four games are nine-inning affairs. Central Coach Adam Stevens says the games will provide a good test run before the Dutch head to Florida for a 10-day spring break trip, March 12-21.

One challenge for Stevens will be chosing a starting line up with the limited outdoor practice time however he is confident his club will see more favorable results than last year’s 17-20 squad as the Dutch return eight starters, including three of the top four starting pitchers from 2009.
